ICU The walls witness it all By Dr. P. Sajeevkumar
Heart has reasons that reason knows not of .
Even within the four walls of an intensive coronary care unit , people with
earnest hearts , some with defective hearts , become the warp and woof of a
delicate saga . On the subtle line between life and death emotions bloom and
people bring out the best in them and the worst in them in the desperate
struggle to be . The doctors , nurses , nursing assistants , patients and the
bystanders unwittingly happen to be the pawns in an elaborate game of passions
and reasons played out by the imperious hands of destiny . The pale blue walls
of the ICU become impotent witness to the permutations and combinations of
plain human beings , which result in sparks of pristine love , carnal
temptations , bouts of hallucinations . impossible hopes and above all the
looming specter of mysterious death which leaves behind some memories and an
emptiness . The walls just look on and wait in silent hope . Dr. P. Sajeevkumar
, as an insider who has had many decades of experience in the medical
profession , brings out the humane side of suffering and hopes that the
seclusion of the ICU is privy to
